Be Proactive

Be Proactive:
I’m in charge of me. I can choose my responses towards others.
I can use my words to solve a problem without hitting or hurting.

Today we talked about the difference between conflict and bullying. (See chart below.) It is important that we know the difference between these so we know what choice to make to problem solve.

We then talked about who is in charge of our behaviour. We decided it wasn't the teacher, or our friends or even our parents. The only one who is in charge of me is me. I CHOOSE how I talk to people, I CHOOSE how I react to people and I CHOOSE how I solve a problem.

International Dot Day

On September 15th it was International Dot Day, which is a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration inspired by the book, The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. We celebrated this day by reading the book, talking about what this story means to us, and then creating our very own collaborative dot art. It was so exciting to see where our creativity led us! Way to go 3P!

What is the message of this story according to our class?
"Don't give up"
"You can grow"
"You can do anything, but maybe not the way you expected"

Welcome to 3N!

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Grade 3N! I am so excited to start working and learning with the students in our class. It is going to be another great year at Iron Ridge Elementary Campus, and I loved getting to meet you the other night at Meet the Teacher.

Please stay tuned in to see all the exciting ways we learn and grow in grade three this year. You can also follow us on twitter at @3Nwith_AN; our twitter feed can even be found on our blog! If at any time you have questions about your child's progress, please do not hesitate to contact me either by phone or email.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Amanda Nymark
